CIW Web Design Professional combines the following two courses:

Each course can be purchased individually or in this two course bundle which offers both at a discounted price. Completion of both courses allows the student to apply for the internationally recognised CIW Web Design Specialist examination (1D0-520) and the CIW E-Commerce Specialist examination (1D0-525) which, if passed, awards the student with the CIW Web Design Specialist Certification and CIW E-Commerce Specialist Certification. Once both of these certifications have been achieved, students will be awarded the advanced CIW Web Design Professional Certification.

Part 1 - CIW Web Design Specialist

  • Website development essentials, including the website development process, customer expectations, and ethical and legal issues in web development

  • Popular production tools including Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash and Microsoft Expression Web

  • Current issues in web design, including the extensibility of design tools, compatibility of these tools, open-source applications and the functionality of current web browsers

Part 2 - CIW E-Commerce Specialst

  • E-commerce website development, including ways to conduct business online and manage the technical issues associated with constructing an e-commerce website
  • E-commerce security, e-commerce customer relationship management (CRM) software and practices for securing your online transactions as well as your customers' personal information
  • E-commerce standards, business, marketing and legal issues, including web marketing strategies, online product promotion and legal topics such as taxation and international shipping

Course Duration & Support

This is a home study course so you can complete it in your own time and the approximate total study time is 320 hours. Technical support for this course is provided directly by CIW via their student web portal.

Practice Exams

Practice exams are included with this course. They are provided online and are designed to help assess knowledge on specific objectives and reinforce learning. They include Objective Reviews and Quizzes, Reinforcement Tests, Self-Assessment Tests and a time-limited test that consists of a random selection of questions covering all learning objectives. The Practice Exams most closely simulate the experience of the Certification Exam.

Certification Exams

Web Design Specialist: On completion of this course you can apply for the internationally recognised CIW 1D0-520 examination which, if passed, awards the student with the CIW Web Design Specialist Certification. This exam has a time limit of 75 minutes, consists of 70 questions and the passing score is 70%. Exams must be sat at one of the 89 registered Prometric testing centres in the UK. You can purchase a Certification Exam Voucher with this course or at a later date. Certification Exam Vouchers are valid for one year from date of purchase.

E-Commerce Specialist: On completion of this course you can apply for the internationally recognised CIW 1D0-525 examination which, if passed, awards the student with the CIW E-Commerce Specialist Certification. This exam has a time limit of 75 minutes, consists of 72 questions and the passing score is 68%. Exams must be sat at one of the 89 registered Prometric testing centres in the UK. You can purchase a Certification Exam Voucher with this course or at a later date. Certification Exam Vouchers are valid for one year from date of purchase.

Once both certifications have been awarded, students will be awarded the CIW Web Design Professional Certification.

Pre-Course Requirements

The CIW Web Design Professional course is designed for students with a good understanding of IT, computers and the Internet including knowledge of HTML and XHTML. No courses or certifications are required prior to taking this course; however, the course and exam are challenging and comprehensive and we recommend that if you are new to web design then you first complete the CIW Site Development Associate course. This is not a requirement but many candidates find it is extremely helpful. Note: If you are using an Apple Mac computer, we recommend installing Parallels Desktop as some elements of this course use Windows based applications.
